Allied Nutrition had the privilege of attending and exhibiting at the World Veterinary Poultry Association Congress held virtually on 20 to 22 April 2021.

We had the privilege of learning from a wide range of Veterinarians such as Prof Filip van Immerseel and Dr Vincent Henwood, who spoke about Salmonella eradication.  Prof Pieter Gouws discussed food safety while Prof Rungtip Chuanchuen discussed antimicrobial resistance. Dr Richard Bailey provided interesting information on gut health and the what the practical application good gut health means for performance. Dr Trudie Prinsloo discussed the legal and ethical challenges every veterinarian faces. Prof Ian Brown and Dr Laura Roberts updated us on what we know about Avian Influenza so far and how we can improve our biosecurity. Lastly, Dr Mark Lyte gave a fascinating presentation on Microbial Endocrinology (Microbiota-Gut-Brain Axis).

We met with many colleagues and learnt a lot. We look forward to the next World Veterinary Poultry Association Congress in South Africa.
