Plants have been used for their medicinal properties for centuries. There are different methods to extract the active compound, i.e. the phytonutrient, yielding different concentrations of  the phytonutrient in the end product. 

  1. Xtract 6930 is a phytonutrient product containing Capsaicin (from chilli peppers), Carvacrol (from origanum) and Cinnamaldehyde (from cinnamon).
  2. Due to the specialized manufacturing process, the active compounds (phytonutrients) are concentrated to provide a consistent and standardized product.
  3. All three phytonutrients contained in Xtract 6930 trigger the Transient Receptor Potential (TRP) channels in cells. Many of these channels mediate a variety of sensations such as pain, temperature, different kinds of tastes, pressure, and vision. Once triggered, gene expression and physiological responses in the animal are manipulated (Furness et al., 2013; Premkumar, 2014).
  4. Capsaicin triggers the TRP-V1 channel which is responsible for manipulating pain, inflammation, and digestion (Liddle, 2012; Rosenbaum & Simon, 2007).
  5. One consequence of TRP-V1 activation is increased vasodilation of blood vessels. This allows for increased release of body heat and nutrient transport. As a result, the animal is better able to cope with heat stress (Storozhuk et al., 2014).
  6. The use of Capsicum can reduce the accumulation of fat in the liver by regulating certain genes. This helps to maintain the function of the liver (Kim et al., 2010).
  7. TRP-V1 activation manipulates fat metabolism and has beneficial effects on insulin resistance, leptin levels, inflammation, and fat storage (Panchal et al., 2018; Kang et al., 2009)
  8. TRP-V1 activation boosts calcium ion levels in cells, which has the potential to improve the function of cells, including those of the immune system (McCarty et al., 2015).
  9. Carvacrol triggers the TRP-V3 channel which is responsible for positively manipulating physiological pathways, the immune system and gut microflora balance (Du et al., 2016; Hashemipour et al., 2013; Alagawany et al., 2015).
  10. TRP-V3 helps to reduce cell damage by strengthening the antioxidant defense system (Mohebbati et al., 2018; Bakir et al., 2017).
  11. Cinnamaldehyde triggers the TRP-A1 channel which manipulates cell signaling, antioxidant activity and controls growth (Kun et al., 2014; Iwasaki et al., 2008; Guimaraes & Jordt, 2007).
  12. TRP-A1 has been found to reduce oxidative stress, inflammation and stabilizes cell membranes by influencing the adrenal glands (Sharma et al., 2018; Zakaria et al., 2016; Subash-Babu et al., 2014).
