What do pathogenic bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi all have in common? They have a negative economic impact during all stages of animal production.

So, what can we do to help prevent and manage their spread without harming our valuable animals?

Stalosan F is a dry, broad-spectrum disinfectant powder, composed completely of organic material and safe for animals and the environment.

Stalosan F works in 3 ways:

  1. Dries up moisture in bedding and environment
  2. Binds ammonia very effectively due to low pH value of 3.5
  3. Kills harmful pathogens such as viruses, bacteria and fungi

Stalosan F has been approved by the EPA, a division of the FDA and has been used worldwide for more than 50 years. Stalosan F is registered with the NRCS in South Africa and its bactericidal efficacy has been reconfirmed by NOSA in 2020.

  1. Stalosan F has been proven to kill bacterial strains (including Streptococcus, Salmonella, Clostridium and Escherichia coli), fungi (including Aspergillus and Fusarium), and viral strains (including those responsible for Avian Influenza, Newcastle Disease).
  2. Stalosan F contains silica as drying agent; thus, it can help to dry out fly larvae as well when in direct contact with the larvae.
  3. Stalosan F is not a chemical product, so no resistance build-up, thus no need for rotation with other products.
  4. Stalosan F stays active as a disinfectant, even when in contact with organic material such as bedding, feces, urine and soil.
  5. Stalosan F is non-corrosive, resulting in no damage to infrastructure and equipment.
  6. Stalosan F is non-toxic and can be used while animals are in the house.

Stalosan F can be used in multiple areas:

  1. For disinfection of houses by means of blowers and spreaders
  2. In footbaths as part of your biosecurity measure, as a replacement for liquid disinfectants.
  3. For ruminants, Stalosan F can be used as a hoof bath in the crush or entrance to the milky parlor for better hoof health.
  4. Beneath drinker lines and on sides of housing where moisture acts as brooding place for diseases.
  5. By hand in nest boxes, calf pens and farrowing crates
  6. Used in silos, bulk bins, feeding pipelines and augers
